Job description
I'm looking for a real human editor (not AI-assisted, not Grammarly-reliant) to help polish a series of books on longevity, recovery, peptides, and wellness.
These are evidence-based wellness guides, written for everyday readers who want practical insights grounded in science—not hype. The tone is accessible and empowering, but the information needs to be accurate, well-cited, and clear.
This is not a developmental or ghostwriting job, and I do not want automated editing. I’m seeking an experienced line editor with medical/scientific awareness to refine what’s already written—not rewrite or restructure it.
✅ Scope of Work:
Human-powered editing for clarity, tone, and paragraph flow
Improve sentence structure and break up dense passages
Fact-check all health/wellness claims using reliable sources (PubMed, NIH, clinical research)
Flag inconsistencies or overstatements
Eliminate repetitive content
Add or format APA 7 in-text citations and references
Light polish of grammar and punctuation—no reliance on Grammarly or AI bots
🩺 Required Qualifications:
Experience editing science-based or medical nonfiction
Solid grasp of APA 7 style and evidence citation best practices
Comfort verifying information via credible medical databases
Ability to preserve the author’s tone while improving clarity and flow
🙅 What This Is Not:
Not a Grammarly pass
Not an AI-generated edit or cleanup
Not a structural/developmental rewrite
Not suitable for generalist copy editors without medical/science familiarity
📚 About the Project:
The first manuscript is ~40,000 words. It focuses on peptides as an emerging tool in recovery, skin health, muscle preservation, and longevity—written in a non-prescriptive, educational format.
Future books will cover related wellness topics like hormone health, women’s midlife vitality, and practical healing tools.
✨ To Apply, Please Include:
A short note about your experience editing science-based or health nonfiction
Examples of books, wellness articles, or white papers you’ve edited (links or PDFs)
Confirmation of your comfort with APA 7 style
Your estimated timeline and rate for a 40,000-word manuscript
💡 This is a thoughtful, human editing role—not automation. If you're passionate about wellness, clarity, and credible science, I’d love to work with you.
